Homemade Garlic Naan

Writer's picture: Bethany OrisonBethany Orison

This buttery garlic naan is the perfect curry side dish or the base of these delicious Red Curry Naan Pizzas.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup warm water

  • 2 tsp instant yeast

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil

  • 1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tsp garlic, minced or 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 2-3 cups flour

  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted

  • 2 tsp dried parsley

Directions:

  1. Stir together the warm water, yeast, sugar, olive oil, yogurt, egg, garlic, salt and 2 cups of flour.

  2. Add additional flour and knead until a soft dough is formed.

  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl and cover with a towel for 30-60 minutes until doubled in size.

  4. On a floured surface, divide the dough into 4-8 pieces and roll out each piece into a circle. (If you are making the Red Curry Naan Pizzas, do 4 large pieces. If you are making this as a side for curry, you want to make more like 8 smaller ones.)

  5. Heat a skillet and lightly grease with some cooking spray. Cook each naan one at a time for 3-4 minutes on each side until lightly browned and bubbly.

  6. Stir together the melted butter and parsley and lightly brush each naan once fully cooked.
